Program FAQ

Lake Mary Pop Warner Football and Cheer FAQ – 2024– What You Need to Know About Our Program

What is included in the cost of the program?

Our program costs include a registration fee, individual team fees.  In addition, the family for each player is required to meet a volunteer commitment.

Registration Cost:

The registration cost of the program is $450.00.    We have payment plans available to spread out the registration cost of the program.    Simply choose the payment plan option during the registration process.

For football, the cost includes your equipment rental (helmet, shoulder pads, practice jersey, game day uniform (home/away) to be returned at the end of the season. Football participants provide their own practice pants and cleats.

For cheer, this includes your game and competition uniform rentals, practice shirt, and game bow. Cheer participants pay an additional $50 for the purchase of cheerleading shoes. Only uniforms are to be returned at the end of the season.

Team Fees:

There are team fees for each team which are given to the Team Mom / Head Coach. These generally run about $50.00-$100 per participant and are used to help defray the cost for things like homecoming gifts for the participants, ice/water for away games, and other items chosen by team coaches. Team fees are subject to change and are determined at the beginning of the season. They are due in full prior to the first game of the season.

Fundraising Commitment:

In the spirit of community outreach, each family in the Pop Warner Community is asked to commit to helping fundraise for the organization.  This helps us defray the annual cost of the fields for practice and games as well as replace equipment and uniforms as becomes necessary to protect the safety of our participants.

Volunteer Commitment:

Our Association and Pop Warner at all levels relies on volunteers to make the organization run smoothly and provide a quality program to all of its participants. Your Coaches and Board Members give their time generously, most times more than 20 hours per week.  There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer. Our volunteer needs include working the concession stand during home gang, chain gang (during the home games), help with team photo day, help with events, as well as the organizing and cleaning of our “locker room” under the stadium prior to the season and at home games.

 Waivers:

If you do not live in the Lake Mary boundary zone for Pop Warner, you must have a waiver signed in order to play with us.    The most common waiver is the “Rosters Full” waiver.      Our Association does its best to assist with the signing of waivers, however, ultimately is the responsibility of the parent to ensure it is done.    If you have questions as to whether or not you are subject to a waiver, please email:   LMRamsPopWarner@gmail.com with the address associated with your player and we will assist you in verifying the same.

What is the time and practice commitment?

·        First practice will begin August 1st.

·        Each practice is 2 hours long.

·        Practices are 5 days a week through Labor Day.

·       After Labor Day, practices will be 3 days per week - exact days are determined annually.   Cheer and Football may practice on different days – they do not always overlap.

·       For Tiny Mite and Mighty Mite Football - a parent or guardian must stay at every practice.   For Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Junior
Varsity teams, you must have a “responsible person” for your player in the event of a lightning delay.

·       Generally, the practices for Tiny Mite and Mighty Mite Football will be held on the front practice fields at Lake Mary High School.
The practices for Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Junior Varsity Football are held at the stadium. Practice locations are subject to change based on events that take place at the high school throughout the season. It is important to watch your email for these changes.

·        Always assume we are practicing unless you are notified by a Team Mom or Coach.

·        We will practice in the rain. We will not practice if there is lightning. A lightning meter will be at every practice.

·       Team Snap or another sports application will be used to notify you if practice is cancelled.   It is important that you have your information updated in the program.

·       Attendance at every practice and game is mandatory. If you are going to be late or absent, please contact a Team Mom/Coach.

 Safety Conditions:

In compliance with Pop Warner’s National Safety Rules:

·         All players must complete 10 hours of conditioning before moving to pads (football) or stunting and tumbling (cheer).

·         All players must practice in pads for 10 hours before they will be allowed to participate in a scrimmage or game.

·         Any missed practices will require make-up hours in order to catch up to the rest of the team.

·         Please make sure your player is ready for practice.   It is important the they are fed, rested and hydrated.

·         It is equally important that their equipment fits properly, is worn properly, and players are ready to go.

·         Parents will have a designated area during practice and are asked to not enter the practice area at any time
